Day Twenty-Nine:
I woke up at 2 am in my recliner and went upstairs to bed, I then woke up at 5 am. Good morning fellow Americans, and anyone else who reads this. I made coffee, listened to the Ham Radio net, and read the news. The latter item is making me break my silence of the past few days and I am going to write a few lines about politics. Nasty stuff!!
Yesterday Governors of 10 States, 3 on the West Coast, and 7 on the East Coast, made alliances with one another to coordinate re-opening their States when they as a group deem it safe for their citizens.
The President was angered by this, saying that he would decide when it was time to re-open the country, and as the President of the United States he has total power over the matter. Before, he had said that he was leaving these matters in the control of each State. The States, and the States only, have the power to make these kind of decisions that effect the well being of its citizens. The President also never made it a federal mandate for all citizens to shelter in place. The 10th Amendment gives the States the right to enact laws, and to protect its own citizens, and to make these decisions on their own, as long as it doesn’t conflict with federal laws. No such law or requirement was laid down by the federal government in this matter. I believe that the Potus has a severe problem with control issues. Nuff said!!
Erin and I went for our walk and returned to our abode…
Erin packaged masks for Kaiser Hospital, for James in New York, and four sweaters that she had kitted to Jessica for little Ray (Aurelia), in Santa Rosa. We got in the Ford and drove to the Post Office. This was the first time Erin had been in the car since our last visit to the Post Office almost a month ago. She went in with her mask on and when she came back to the car I sprayed her hands with my homemade sanitizer. We dove home feeling kind of weird being in our comfortable quiet sedan.
Erin read for the afternoon and I got on the computer to try one more idea to get my podcasts back. I emailed Podbean, the podcast provider that I had my episodes on and told them my story. They emailed me back telling me they would get back to me in within about twenty-four hours. We shall see what we will see!
I grilled chicken thighs and we made salads. While we ate we watched a movie on Amazon, it was “The Aeronauts”, I really liked it. It took place in the mid eighteen-hundreds, and it was the story of a maned balloon that went up to further the study of predicting weather. My kind of stuff, Erin thought it was okay, but not great. She picked it because she thought I would like it. She knows what I like!
We are now doing our own things and will be going to bed soon…
