Day Thirty-Nine:

Happy Friday, I got up at 4, made Peets, skimmed the news, and finished the blog from yesterday. Let’s talk about coffee for a moment.

I read an article yesterday about coffee and your health. There have been many things said over the years about whether the black brew is good or bad for your health. Here is what the article said:

“It turns out that coffee's not just fine for your health, it may even lengthen your life -- but only if you prepare it with a filter, according to a new long-term study published Wednesday in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. "Unfiltered coffee contains substances which increase blood cholesterol. Using a filter removes these and makes heart attacks and premature death less likely," said study author Dag Thelle, a senior professor in the public health and community medicine department of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. That's bad news for lovers of coffee made with the French press, or cafetière, that is so popular today, or those fond of strong Greek and Turkish brewing methods. Boiling coffee or using a coffee press can actually increase your risk of heart disease.”

Unfortunately, I have been using a coffee press for about four years. Fortunately, it is now stowed away in the cupboard for emergency’s. I have always used a Melitta drip cone with filters for camping. Last night I went out to the van and moved this stuff to the house, and used it this morning to make healthy Peets. They also said that 4 cups a day is perfectly fine as long as you filter it. I going to go on Amazon today and stock-up on filters!

It’s 7 am, time for my walk, Erin will be going later…

As I was cooling down from my walk Erin got ready an did her’s.

I decided to check in with SSA to see why my monthly payment had been deposited on the 16th, instead of the 22nd. They told me that it had, and that she did not know why. The reason that I called was because we thought that that money was from the US Stimulus Package, it wasn’t. So at this point we haven’t gotten our check. Oh well? We shall see what we shall see!

I sat in the writing chair until four-o’clock and then started getting things ready for Hot Dog Friday. We ate dogs and watched “That Seventies Show” on Netflix.

We then did Zoom with Debbie, Jessica, and Ray, with a cameo from Oliver.

It was a hot day—almost one hundred degrees, we opened up the house at about eight and did our own things until bedtime, goodnight all…
