Day Forty-Five:

Happy Forty-Fifth day in captivity, I got up at 5:30, filtered Peets, listened to the Ham Net. I don’t remember if I mentioned that The Six, Bay Area Counties including ours, Contra Costa, extended our stay at home orders until May 31st. This is not going over well with some people, but we think it makes sense. Erin’s employers have been paying her, but she will be filing for UI after the 11th. They do want her back when things clear-up. They are wonderful people!

I walked my 2 1/2 miles and listened to Stephen King’s, “The Stand”.

When I got home I cooled down and pulled out our “Go Bike” from the shed. It is a fold-able bicycle, that has been sitting with flat tires and was mainly in the way. It was given to me by my friend Stuart who has since past-away. He bought a new folding cycle and gave me this one for helping him with his boat. It is a really nice bike, I think it originally cost near a thousand dollars.

I fixed the tires, lubed the chain, cleaned the helmet, adjusted the seat, and the brakes. Erin took it for a spin and loved it. By the way it was her request that got it in working order. Another one of those things I needed a kick in the ass to attend to. At least I am consistent!

I called Kaiser to check on the payments for my medical. I got a letter stating that for the first two months of coverage, Social Security would not be deducting it from my benefits. I’m lucky I decided to read that letter today, because the payment is due Saturday. They nicely took my payment on the phone and now all is well in medical land…

I built a hanging rack in the shed so we could store the “Go Bike” without folding it up. It is completely out of the way and hangs from the ceiling.

We drank some brews and wine at the new fire pit…

We made salads and then watched the first episode of “Justified” I think I am going to like it. It is early, but I think bedtime is near…
