Day Twenty-Four:

Good morning, I got up at 4, made coffee and went food shopping on Amazon.

I read the news, and things are still pretty dicey out there. I have a hard time believing that politicking seems to have the same amount of backbiting as it did before the virus. enough said.

I went for my walk, and Erin slept in. I did the standard 2 1/2 miles, mask on face. When I got back Erin was up and reading. We both read in silence. I am trying to give her time in the morning so that she doesn’t have to listen to me jabber. She went for her walk and I read until she returned.

Erin went to work on the masks, and made eleven. She used up all of the elastic that we had scrounged from all of our vests and coats. In two days she has made twenty-one masks. Incredible!

The planter-box I talked about building is now going to be a raised platform to hold individual pots. After looking into the depths that most plants require in the soil, my box was not going to be deep enough.

I cut the wood for the frame, pre-drilled holes for the screws, and put the frame together. I had built the frame to fit two 1 x 12 x 34 inch planks I had in the loft. I screwed the top to the frame. It was far from perfect and I had to walk away from it for a while to figure out how to make it work with the allotted space near the gate.

At about 4:30 I figured it out how to install it using a small tree stump that is about 10 inches tall. I used the stump for one end and two 2 x 3’s for legs on the other end. After putting it in place I was fairly okay with the result.

At 5:30 we did a Zoom video link on the patio, with our friend Kelly in Oakland, and Jessica and Ray in Santa Rosa. I guess this is the new happy hour normal, being together, while apart. It was fun and we had drinks and caught up with a friend, and our family.

We had dinner and eventually went to bed…
