Day Eight:

I woke up at about 2:30 with all kinds of things going on in my head, I tried to go back to sleep but it was not happening. I got out of bed at around 3:30. I went downstairs not turning on any lights, put the coffee water on and decided to recline my chair and see if I could get a little more sleep. That didn’t happen.

I quickly glanced at the news, and decided to work on my site. What I didn’t mention yesterday was that I re-worked the home page on Indivisible Space and added the first seven chapters of my book “A New Frontier”, this is big for me, because I have only shared printed versions with a couple of people. I put up 7 chapters out of 38. I then sent the link to my cousin Vivian. As my mother said: we shall see what we will see!!

I called our office manger at work to ask her about when my termination information and vacation check would arrive. She told me that she had not realized how long it would take to process so many layoffs, because she had never had so many at one time. I told her I totally understood. I told her I had an email ready to send her with the Employer Information paperwork for my Medicare Part B. She told me to send it and that she would fill it out, sign it and email me a PDF so I could print it. Perfect!

I asked her about the Cobra package, and she told me it was handled by a separate company and that they would be sending me the package. I asked if she new how much it would cost and she told me it would be about $1300.00. Wow!! She then gave me my termination date and last day worked, This was all she had for me at the moment, but it was better than nothing, I thanked her and hung up.

I was thinking through what I could work on right now, and decided to check out a few things online. I found out that I didn’t have to worry about my Part B Medicare, because my window for applying was perfect, so I would not need to apply for Cobra. The big question was could Erin use my Cobra without me? If she could would it be half of the total, if it would be half, it would be almost $300.00 cheaper than Cover California and would be the same coverage we have now. I looked it up on multiple sources and they said that she could use my Cobra if I was on Medicare. Perfect! But I really needed to verify this with the company that provided my Cobra, then we could relax a little. The question with this was could we do it without a lapse in Erin’s coverage. She was really stressing over this, and I don’t blame her at all. We need this fixed now!

The Medicare PDF was emailed to me at about 7 pm, with details of my last six quarters of wages for Unemployment Insurance. Yes!

We went to bed…
