Day Forty-Seven:
I got up at 4:30…
Yesterday was, Mayday, the day celebrated as the transition from Spring to Summer. The way the weather has been it sure feels like we stepped through that door over a week ago. Most nights have cooled down, but the afternoons have been pretty warm. We have been able so far, to stay away from using the air conditioner. We live about twenty-five miles from San Francisco. The area we live in is called Diablo Valley. Just the name seems to depict heat, as in hell, the word Diablo in Spanish is “Devil”. Erin calls where we live “The Devils Valley”.
It stays between ninety and one-hundred degrees here in the Summer months, usually from June until the end of September, sometimes through the end of October. In contrast San Francisco is usually between fifty and sixty degrees during the same time-frame. In the summer months we will often drive through the Caldecott Tunnel into Oakland, and the temperature is twenty to thirty degrees cooler.
It’s time for my walk, more of my audio book, “The Stand”.
As per usual I cooled down on the patio, I listened to NPR 1, planted radishes in two eight inch pots.
I am now upstairs in the writing chair, I will be editing today, and if all goes well I will either write or record another chapter…
I finished editing ANF through 41 Chapters, Erin and I had a beer on the patio.
I then recorded Chapter 3, edited it and posted it on the site..
I am very close to shut eye, goodnight!
